What do Miquelrius notebooks and Uni Mitsubishi rollers have in common? The Rock side of the fairy tale!
Recently on our blog we wrote about Miquelrius notebooks and shared with you that their motto „expressing emotions since 1839“ is a way of life.
In doing so, we bring you the story of how Miquelrius notebooks are one of the main 'culprits' behind the creation of an interesting book titled „Rock strana bajke“ by the young Bjelovar-based author Marijana Dragičević.
Marijana, who is also a Master of Archaeology and History, wrote a fairy-tale novel of 29 chapters named after songs from rock genres by various artists. The novel was among the first read by the esteemed Croatian writer and academic Goran Tribuson, who wrote a positive and engaging review of the novel.
How Miquelrius 'caused' the creation of the now-successful novel was told to us by the author herself, who is our loyal follower on social media:
„Back in 2008, when I was in my first year of college, I came across a beautiful notebook with a spiral binding, a hard cover, and in A4 size. I bought it to take notes for the toughest exam of the year. When I passed the exam on the first attempt, I continued buying them for the remaining difficult exams, and later for preparing master's theses and, finally, for a novel. I'm not at all superstitious. I currently have around 15. Twelve years of collecting the most beautiful and best notebooks have particularly delighted me today. I sent them my novel, and they sent me a new notebook. This notebook will be for some future novel.“
The chapter contents are actually a playlist of about 50 rock-themed songs that help understand the plot of certain chapters and parts of chapters. The main characters are Adria Doliner and Ellak Sever, and the novel begins with an urban legend about the town of Mildorf, which started as a settlement with four mills and later grew into a city. The legend explains its climate, which changes with the seasons. During the novel, Adria and Ellak become friends, grow closer, fall in love, and try to find out why Adrijina's sister took her own life. The plot of the novel is contemporary, and some parts are deliberately written to have fairy-tale characteristics, but modern fairy tales. The novel is romance – erotic themes with fairy-tale details that are complemented by the musical part that names the chapters – Marijana tells us.
At the book launch on June 5, 2020, at Zagreb's Katran factory, we hung out with the author and listened to several chapters of the book. The whole event was accompanied by music from the novel's playlist, and we spent the evening with good music and even better literature. The author herself, Marijana, announced to us a new novel that is in progress and that it will be on Miquelrius notebooks.
To combine our brands with visitors and readers, we rewarded them with an Uni Jetstream SXN 101 roller that delighted the audience not only at the Katran factory but around the world.
