Aiwa was founded in 1951 and, among older generations, was a globally acclaimed brand known for producing quality audio products such as speakers, turntables, and stereo systems. In 1964, Aiwa produced the first Japanese cassette player. In 2003, Sony Corporation acquired them with the aim of bringing the brand closer to younger generations. In 2015, the American audio company Hale Devices, Inc. obtained rights to the brand name, and the company was renamed Aiwa Corporation and began producing audio equipment.
