Aiwa was founded in 1951 and among older generations was globally admired as a brand known for producing quality audio products such as speakers, turntables, and stereo systems. In 1964, Aiwa produced the first Japanese cassette player. In 2003, Sony Corporation purchased them with the aim of bringing the brand closer to younger generations. In 2015, the American audio company known as Hale Devices, Inc. obtained the rights to the brand name, and the company was renamed Aiwa Corporation and began producing audio equipment.
